US uses Turkey to advance its own interests

At the G20 summit, US President Joe Biden and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to create a mechanism to strengthen bilateral relations through NATO. The leaders discussed the political process in Syria, the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need in Afghanistan, elections in Libya, the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and diplomatic efforts in the South Caucasus.

The experts link this meeting with the conduction of military operations in Syria in several directions.

By order from Ankara, military units in Syria were brought to full combat readiness. Turkey continues to provide in all possible ways support to illegal armed groups in the north-west of Idlib province.

At first glance, it might seem that Washington turns a blind eye to Ankara's use of radical jihadists as a tool to establish control over Idlib. In fact, this is part of the White House's plans. Ankara is the same instrument for achieving the goals pursued by the United States in the Middle East and South Caucasus, but, naturally, it is much larger.

Turkey, of course, dares to oppose the United States to supporting the Kurdish militia in northern Syria. This is an exception to the strategic partnership model. Nevertheless, it clearly demonstrates how similar their policies of legalizing terrorists are.

In the South Caucasus region, Washington also allows Ankara to rapidly strengthen its position with an eye to the future.

Proceeding from all this, there are fruitless hopes that the White House will pay due attention to the crimes of Azerbaijan and Turkey during the Second Karabakh War.
