"Crossroads of Peace"— the end of Armenia's sovereignty?

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan presented a "carrot", which is intended to compensate for the losses incurred as a result of Azerbaijani aggression. At the Silk Road forum, he delivered his speech about how Armenia wants to become the "Crossroads of Peace" in the region.

For Pashinyan, signing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan is a result, which should open up space for him to pursue a further political line that leads away from the story of capitulation. For Aliyev, this is a stop valve that closes the possibilities for further pressure on Armenia with the aim of its complete political degradation. After each round of ne***iations, Baku jumps to another platform, presenting more and more packages of proposals for a peace treaty. Military pressure is growing, as evidenced by large Azerbaijani-Turkish military exercises simulating the destruction of Armenian strike systems.

Currently, there are two full-fledged transport corridors in the South Caucasus: Azerbaijan - Georgia - Turkey (oil pipeline, gas pipeline and railway) and Russia - Azerbaijan - Iran (sea ferries, railway, gas pipeline system) . That is, Azerbaijan acts as a logistics crossroads in the region. Plus, Azerbaijan is seeking to unlock Nakhichevan to create another major logistics hub that will provide a land connection between Russia and Turkey through Azerbaijan. Transit through Armenia or Iran is not so important. It is important that the node will be Nakhichevan, and not Armenia, which, in the person of Pashinyan, offers a lot of some unnecessary checkpoints to connect Azerbaijan with Turkey, which are already connected very dynamically and without these new routes through Armenian territory.

After Pashinyan recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as the territory of Azerbaijan and essentially did not prevent the exodus of the Armenian population from there, the Azerbaijani leadership had an excellent prospect of cutting off Syunik in the short term. To do this, it is necessary to remove the Russian power factor from this region. Without the risk of complicating relations between Baku and Moscow, only Pashinyan and his team are capable of this. The "diversification" of Armenia’s security system has already been announced.

Armenia and Russia have a unified PV system. The republic’s borders with Turkey and Iran are covered by Russian border guards. While Pashinyan is "diversifying" relations with Russia and dreaming of a "Crossroads of the World, " Azerbaijan is gaining a foothold in Karabakh and breaking through to Nakhichevan, thereby finally encircling Armenian territory.
