Հայոց Մեծ Եղեռնի հուշարձան Ամստերդամում Նիդերլանդների հայ համայնքի հարգելի՛ ներկայացուցիչներ, Թանկագի՛ն հայրենակիցներ, Ամեն տարի ապրիլի 24-ին աշխարհասփյուռ հայությունը գլուխ է խոնարհում՝ ի հիշատակ Օսմանյան կայսրությունում հայոց Մեծ Եղեռնի նահատակների։ Թուրք դահիճների կողմից իրականացրած՝ պատմության մեջ նախադեպը չունեցող այս վայրագի ու անմարդկային բռնության արդյունքում մեր ազգը կորցրեց իր ավելի քան մեկ ու կես միլիոն զավակներին, և կրելով անդառնալի կորուստներ՝ կանգնեց դեմոգրաֆիական աղետի առաջ։ Մազապուրծ եղածների սերունդները այսօր սփռված են աշխարհով մեկ՝ յուրաքանչյուր մայրցամաքում հիմնելով մարդաշատ հայ համայնքներ և ձևավորելով հայկական մեծ սփյուռքը, որի ներկայացուցիչներից մեկն էլ, իհարկե, Նիդերլանդների հայ համայնքն է։ Եվ Ցեղասպանության ճանաչմանն ուղղված մեր պայքարը շարունակական է։ Ամեն տարի ապրիլի 24-ին միլիոնավոր հայեր և այլ ազգերի կարեկից ներկայացուցիչներ մեր հայրենիքում և նրա սահմաններից դուրս ծաղիկներ կամ ծաղկեպսակներ են դնում մեր պատմության այդ ողբերգական իրադարձությանը նվիրված բազմաթիվ հուշակոթողների կամ հուշարձանների մոտ։ Նիդերլանդների հայկական սփյուռքի ներկայացուցիչները ևս բացառություն չեն կազմում։ Սակայն, մենք վստահ ենք, որ ձեզնից շատերի մոտ հարց է առաջացել, թե ինչու աշխարհի ամենադեմոկրատական, լիբերալ և ազատասեր քաղաքներից մեկում՝ Ամստերդամում, ցայսօր բացակայում է Մեծ Եղեռնը ոգեկոչող որևէ կոթող, որի շուրջ մեր համայնքի ներկայացուցիչները հնարավորություն կունենային հարգանքի տուրք մատուցել այն հայրենակիցների հիշատակին, որոնք զոհն են դարձել մեր ազգային ողբերգությանը։ Մենք այն կարծիքին ենք, որ Ամստերդամի արվարձաններից մեկում մի քանի բարերարների հովանավորությամբ տեղադրված համեստ գերեզմանաքարը ի զորու չէ արտահայտել Ամստերդամ քաղաքի վերաբերմունքը այս ողբերգության նկատմամբ, այն դեպքում, երբ, վստահաբար, նրա հազարավոր բնակիչներ կիսում են մեր համոզմունքը առ այն, որ Ցեղասպանության մերժումը կատարյալ անարդարություն է։ Այսպիսի մտորումներ առկա էին նաև մեզ մոտ։ Տարեսկզբից կազմավորվող «Սբ․ Գրիգոր Նարեկացի» հիմնադրամի ներկայացուցիչները, «Սուրբ Հոգի եկեղեցի» հիմնադրամի, ինչպես նաև մի քանի նիդերլանդական հասարակական կազմակերպություների աջակցությամբ, դիմում են ներկայացրել Ամստերդամի քաղաքապետարանի կենտրոնական շրջանի ղեկավարությանը՝ Kroom Boomssloot փողոցում գտնվող հայկական եկեղեցու անկյունային պատի վրա համապատասխան տեքստով հարթաքանդակ (բառելյեֆ) տեղադրելու առաջարկը դիտարկելու խնդրանքով։ Մի քանի ամիս անց մեզ տեղյակ պահեցին, որ մեր խնդրանքին ծանոթացել է Ամստերդամի քաղաքապետ պրն․ Վան դեռ Լաանը, ով, ցավոք սրտի, հեռացավ կյանքից։ Մեզ նաև խնդրել են տրամադրել այդ դիմումի հետ կապված հնարավոր ամբողջական տեղեկություն՝ այդ թվում նաև գեղավեստական գաղափարի և տեխնիկական մանրամասների մասին։ Այսպիսով, մենք ձեռնարկեցինք համապատասխան քայլեր՝ մեր մտքերը հնարավորինս շտապ կյանքի կոչելու նպատակով։ Երևանում համաձայնություն է ձեռք բերվել Հայաստանի՝ խաչքար քանդակող ամենահայտնի մասնագետներից մեկի՝ Վարազդատ Համբարձումյանի հետ, ում ստեղծագործությունները զարդարում են ինչպես Հայաստանի և Արցախի, այնպես էլ արտասահմանի բազմաթիվ վայրեր, այդ թվում նաև Էջմիածինի Կաթողիկոսարանի բակային հատվածը։ Վարպետին առաջադրված է քանդակել խաչքար՝ ծիրանագույն հայկական տուֆից, որը կունենա 260 սմ բարձրություն և 100 սմ լայնություն, ինչպես նաև կից կլինի հայերեն և հոլանդերեն լեզուներով հետևյալ գրությունը․ «Ի հիշատակ 1915թ․ Օսմանյան կայսրությունում Մեծ Եղեռնի Նահատակների» ՝ 60 սմ բարձրությամբ և 120 սմ լայնությամբ։ Նաև պայմանավորվածություններ են ձեռք բերվել պատրաստի խաչքարը Երևանից Ամստերդամ տեղափոխման (GMG ընկերություն, Երևան) և տեղադրման (Snoep &Vermeer, Ամստերդամ) հարցերի շուրջ, որը հանգրվանելու է հայկական Սուրբ Հոգի եկեղեցու պատին՝ Kroom Boomssloot և Keizerstraat փողոցների հատման անկյունում։ Ֆոտոշոփի միջոցով ստացված նկարները հնարավոր է տեսնել հավելվածում։ Նախագծի ողջ արժողությունը, որի մեջ ներառված է նաև հարթաքանդակի պատրաստումը, տեղափոխումն ու տեղադրումը, կազմում է 12.000 եվրո։ Հարգելի՛ հայրենակիցներ, Նիդերլանդների հայկական համայնքի անդամնե՛ր, Սուրբ Հոգի եկեղեցին Արևմտյան Եվրոպայի հայկական հնագույն եկեղեցիներից մեկն է։ Նրա պատերի ներքո ավելի քան երեք դար պահպանվում են մեր հավատքը, հույսը, սերն ու գութը՝ հիմնված մեր ազգային համոզմունքների և ավանդույթների վրա։ Մենք հավատացած ենք, որ ձեզնից և ոչ մեկի մոտ չկա կասկածի անգամ նշույլ Ամստերդամում Մեծ Եղեռնին նվիրված հուշակոթողի տեղադրման արդարության և օրինաչափության վերաբերյալ։ Մենք նաև կարծում ենք, որ այս գաղափարը կյանքի կոչելու գործում ուժերը ներածին չափով պետք է մասնակցություն ունենա քաղաքի ու դրա մերձակայքի, ինչպես նաև ողջ Նիդերլանդների հայ համայնքի յուրաքանչյուր ներկայացուցիչ։ Սա մեր պարտքն է անմեղ նահատակների հիշատակի առջև։ Այսու հայտարարում ենք դրահամավաքի սկիզբ՝ 1915թ Օսմանյան կայսրությունում հայոց Մեծ Եղեռնի նահատակների հիշատակի հուշաքարի տեղադրման համար։ Նվիրատվությունը կարող եք կատարել հետևյալ հաշվեհամարին՝ NL65INGB0008113482, որպես հասցեատեր նշելով Stichting Sint Grigor Narekatsi, իսկ որպես նշում՝ "Genocidemonument Amsterdam". Elk jaar op 24 april buigen Armeniërs wereldwijd het hoofd ter nagedachtenis van de onschuldige slachtoffers van de Armeense Genocide in 1915 in het Ottomaanse Rijk. Als resultaat van gewelddadigheden en wreedheden op in de geschiedenis ongekende schaal heeft ons volk meer dan anderhalf miljoen zoons en dochters verloren, daardoor onherstelbare verliezen geleden en is het daardoor slachtoffer geworden van een demografische ramp. Een grote vluchtelingenstroom kwam op gang. Vluchtelingen waarvan de nakomelingen thans een meerdere miljoenen tellende diaspora vormen, verspreid over alle continenten. Een deel streek neer in Nederland. Onze strijd voor erkenning van de genocide kent geen einde. Elk jaar op 24 april brengen miljoenen Armeniërs in het moederland en wereldwijd, en medelevende vertegenwoordigers van andere landen, bloemen en kransen naar meerdere monumenten en standbeelden, die zijn geplaatst ter herinnering aan de tragische gebeurtenissen uit onze geschiedenis. De Armeense gemeenschap in Nederland is geen uitzondering op deze regel. Wij zijn er echter van overtuigd dat velen onder u zich meermaals hebben afgevraagd waarom in één van de meest democratische, liberale en vrije steden ter wereld, Amsterdam, tot op heden enig teken van herinnering aan de slachtoffers van de Armeense Genocide is uitgebleven, waardoor aan de leden van onze gemeenschap geen mogelijkheid wordt geboden eerbetoon te geven aan de omgekomen landgenoten in deze catastrofe. Een bescheiden grafsteen op een kerkhof in één van de voorsteden van Amsterdam, geplaatst dankzij een kleine groep goeddoeners, staat in onze optiek niet in verhouding tot de betrokkenheid die duizenden bewoners van een stad als Amsterdam zonder twijfel voelen bij deze tragedie, en de overtuiging die zij delen ten aanzien van de onrechtvaardigheid van de ontkenning daarvan. Deze vraag hebben wij onszelf ook voorgelegd. Aan het begin van het jaar hebben vertegenwoordigers van de Stichting Sint Grigor Narekatsi, gesteund door de Stichting Surp Hoki Kerk Amsterdam en een aantal Amsterdamse verenigingen, zich gewend tot het bestuur van het Stadsdeel Centrum Amsterdam met het verzoek om het plaatsen van een gevelsteen met bijpassende tekst op de hoek van de Surp Hoki Kerk aan de Krom Boomssloot 22, te overwegen. Na verloop van een aantal maanden werden wij ervan op de hoogte gesteld dat Burgemeester Van der Laan, tot eenieders groot verdriet onlangs overleden, kennis had genomen van ons voornemen tot het plaatsen van het gedenkteken. Ons werd bovendien gevraagd alle mogelijke informatie te verstrekken bij het verzoek, met name het artistieke idee en de technische details. Hiertoe zijn door ons stappen ondernomen gericht op de zo snel mogelijke realisatie van ons project. In Jerevan werd al snel één van de vooraanstaande vakmannen op het gebied van Khachkars gestrikt, Varazdat Hambartsumian. Zijn werken zijn geplaatst in alle hoeken van Armenië, onder andere op het terrein van de Moederzetel van het Heilige Echmiadzin, in Artsakh en in het buitenland. Aan de genoemde kunstenaar werd voorgesteld om een Khachkar te houwen van oranjekleurig Armeens tufsteen, met een hoogte van 260 centimeter en breedte van 100 centimeter, met daaronder de volgende gegraveerde tekst in het Armeens en Nederlands op een oppervlakte van 60 bij 120 centimeter: "Ter nagedachtenis aan de slachtoffers van de Armeense Genocide van 1915 in het Ottomaanse Rijk" De voorwaarden omtrent het vervoer vanuit Jerevan naar Amsterdam en de bevestiging van de gevelsteen op de muur van de Surp Hoki Kerk op de hoek van de Krom Boomssloot en de Keizerstraat, zijn reeds besproken met transportbedrijf GMG LLC (Jerevan) en Snoep & Vermeer BV (Amsterdam) . Voor een fotoconcept van de gevelsteen zie de foto's. De totale kosten van het project, inclusief het houwen, transport en bevestiging van de gevelsteen, zijn begroot op 12.000 euro. Beste landgenoten en leden van de Armeense gemeenschap in Nederland, De Surp Hoki Kerk in Amsterdam is een van de oudste Armeense kerken in West-Europa. Al meer dan 300 jaar wordt binnen haar muren ons geloof, hoop, liefde en medeleven overeenkomstig de overtuigingen en tradities van ons volk gekoesterd. Wij zijn ervan overtuigd dat in u geen enkele twijfel bestaat over de rechtvaardigheid en rechtmatigheid van het plaatsen van een gedenkteken in de stad Amsterdam voor de slachtoffers van de Armeense. Tevens zijn wij van mening dat ieder lid van de Armeense gemeenschap van Amsterdam en omgeving in het bijzonder, en de Armeense gemeenschap van heel Nederland in het algemeen, naar vermogen zou moeten deelnemen aan de verwezenlijking van dit project. Dat is onze plicht tegenover de onschuldige slachtoffers. Bij dezen kondigen wij een geldinzamelingsactie aan voor het plaatsen van de gevelsteen in Amsterdam, ter nagedachtenis aan de slachtoffers van de Armeense Genocide van 1915 in het Ottomaanse Rijk. Every year on April 24th Armenians worldwide bow their heads in commemoration of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 in the Ottoman Empire. As a result of the at that point unprecedented scale of violence and cruelty, our people lost millions of sons and daughters, suffered unrecoverable losses and became a victim of a demographic disaster, resulting in a large stream of refugees. Descendants of those refugees currently form a diaspora of millions around the globe. A part of them settled in The Netherlands. Our fight for recognition of the genocide knows no end. Every year on April 24th millions of Armenians in the motherland and worldwide, compassionate representatives of other countries, lay down flowers and wreaths by multiple monuments and statues, placed in memory of the tragic events in our history. The Armenian community in The Netherlands is no exception to this rule. However we are convinced many among you have asked themselves why Amsterdam, one of the most democratic, liberal and free cities in the world, to this day has no sign of commemoration of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, to give members of our community the opportunity to pay tribute to our fallen countrymen during the catastrophe. In our view merely a modest tombstone on a cemetery in one of Amsterdam’s suburbs, placed by a small group of benevolent people, does not nearly represent the involvement felt with the tragedy, by thousands of inhabitants of a city like Amsterdam. Inhabitants who share the conviction of the injustice and unlawfulness of the denial of said tragedy. We have asked ourselves the same question. At the beginning of this year, representatives of the Sint Grigor Narekatsi Foundation, supported by the Holy Spirit Church Foundation of Amsterdam and a number of Amsterdam associations, approached the governing body of the Amsterdam city centre with the request to consider the placement of a memorial stone with a matching text on the corner of the Holy Spirit Church, on the Krom Boomssloot 22. A couple of months later we were informed that mayor Van der Laan, who sadly passed away recently, had been personally confronted with our intention to place the monument. Furthermore we were asked to provide as much information as possible regarding our request, mainly concerning artistic and technical details. We acted by taking steps to realize the project as quickly as possible. We have partnered up with one of Yerevan’s finest craftsman in the field of Khachkars, Varazdat Hambartsumian. His works are located in all corners of Armenia, on the grounds of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin among other places, in Artsakh and abroad. It has been suggested to the artist to carve a Khachkar from orange coloured Armenian tuff, with a height of 260 centimetres and width of 100 centimetres, with the addition of the following engraved Armenian and Dutch text on a 60x120 centimetre surface: "In memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 in the Ottoman Empire" The conditions of transport from Yerevan to Amsterdam and the fastening of the stone to the wall of the Holy Spirit Church on the corner of the Krom Boomssloot and the Keizerstraat, have been discussed with transport company GMC LLC (Yerevan) and Snoep & Vermeer BV (Amsterdam) .
