While sitting in a sushi bar there is always a wish to open a sushi dictionary and know more about the sushi besides its name. After all, everything is so Japanese! Learn all about sushi with us!

Sushi and Sashimi difference

Despite the fact that the term "sushi" now refers to all its forms, originally the term meant only sticky, acetic rice.

Uninformed people relate to sushi everything related to raw fish, however, there are many vegetarian and vegan versions of sushi. Despite the fact that sushi fish is mainly served raw, octopus, eels and other types of seafood are sometimes boiled or fried because of their texture.

Pieces of seafood (usually raw) thinly sliced and served without rice are sashimi.
