+1 (818) 651-7587: Cash App accounts closed without receiving any notification

Your Cash App account isn’t working, and you have a sinking feeling that something isn’t right. Even after deleting and re-installing the app, you’re not able to send or receive money. If you’re dealing with this, it’s likely your Cash App account has been closed. Your priority now is working out how to get your funds back from Cash App that is tied up in your closed account. This guide tells you everything you need to know, including the reasons why Cash App closes accounts that violate their terms of service.

Cash App Closed My Account

Back in 2019, Cash App closed my account with a cash balance of over $3000. Most of the cash in the account was from Cash App referrals (learn how I made over $120, 000 in 2021 by sharing my Cash App referral code) . My initial thought was that Cash App does not like the fact that I have referred so many users to Cash App. But clearly, that wasn't the reason as I continued to earn referral bonuses in 2020 and 2021.

Unfortunately, Cash App customer service would not tell me why my Cash App account was closed. However, I was able to get some answers by just reading Cash App's terms of service. Indeed, in most cases, it's easy to figure out why your Cash App account is closed based on your recent account activity. While every case is different, understanding Cash App's terms of service will give you some answers as to why your account was closed and how to avoid future account closures.

Why Did Cash App Close My Account?

In my case, the most likely reason was sharing my $Cashtag on the blog, as I was trying to help new users get their Cash App referral bonus. If you have participated in Cash App's referral program, you may know that new users need to send $5 to another Cash App user within 14 days to receive the signup bonus.

Because not all new users know another Cash App user, some users asked if they could use us for their first transaction. This seemed harmless at first, so I agreed to receive and send back new users' initial $5. If they could get their referral bonus (and assuming they used my Cash App referral code), then I would also get a reward. So why not?

Quite honestly, this was not a very smart idea. The volume of $5 transactions started to get overwhelming quickly and some users even tried to scam my Cash App account. For example, they would request $5 instead of sending $5. At some point, Cash App closed my account and it took me a while to figure out why.

So what was the reason? The volume of transactions, sharing our $Cashtag on the blog, or receiving from or sending money to unknown accounts? While I will never know for sure, the reason was most likely having transactions with the user who manipulated or abused Cash App's referral program.

In case you are wondering, I was able to withdraw my $3000 balance and opened a new Cash App account with the same email and phone number later. Below, I will explain how you can remove your funds from a closed Cash App account, as well as other potential reasons for Cash App account closures.

How to know if your Cash App account has been closed

Are you not sure if Cash App has closed your account or if your login has been compromised? There’s an easy way to find out. The main red flag to look out for is if you’re struggling to send and receive money through Cash App. In most cases, Cash App will notify you that your account has been closed using your preferred method of communication.

A quick search online will show you thousands of users who have had their Cash App accounts closed without receiving any notification about the account closure. If you have received a notification, you may not be given a reason for the closure of your account. That’s where this guide comes in.

Start by opening your Cash App smartphone app to its home screen. This part of the app is where you would typically request money or pay other users. You can check if your account has been closed by selecting the profile icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen.

You’ll see a list of five options to select, including ‘support’ at the bottom of the screen. When you select the support section, you’ll see a statement in bold red text that reads "your account is closed". If you haven’t received a formal notification of your account closure, this may be the only way for you to find out for sure that Cash App has closed your profile.

Why does Cash App close accounts?

If Cash App has chosen your account, you’re probably wondering why. Cash App will close your account if you are found to violate the platform’s Terms of Service, which can be found on the company’s website.

Some of the most popular reasons why Cash App closes accounts on its platform are listed below.

#Not verifying your identity with Cash App: When you open a Cash App account, you can send up to $250 per week and receive up to $1000. Regardless of how much you expect to send or receive, it’s always best to verify your identity with Cash App. Doing this makes it less likely for your account to be closed, especially if you’re using Cash App regularly. Making consistent payments without verifying your account may cause your profile to be closed.

#Your Cash App account is not verifiable: Currently, Cash App is only accessible to those who live in the US and UK. If you’re not a citizen of either of these countries, you’ll be violating Cash App’s terms of service by making an account. When you attempt to verify your account or your account is checked Cash App will close your account for a breach of its terms.

#Not providing original documents for verification: When you’re verifying your account, you want to ensure that you’re using the correct documentation and information. Submitting the wrong details can cause Cash App to close your account if they don’t match your government-registered details.

#You’re too young for a Cash App account: With the popularity of Cash App, it’s no surprise that younger users are trying to create accounts. You’re only eligible to sign up for a Cash App account when you’re 18 or over. If you’re found to be underage and using Cash App, it’s guaranteed that the platform will close your account for violating their terms of service.

#You're found to be committing fraud or scams: Cash App regularly monitors to activities of its users. If you’re found to be conducting an unethical activity, including scams and fraud, your account will be closed by the platform. The best way to ensure the continued use of your Cash App account is to use the platform for its intended purposes and ethically.

#Your account has been compromised: For security reasons, Cash App will close your account if it’s found that someone has accessed your account or that your information has been leaked by a third party. The purpose of closing your account is to protect your information and stop your existing funds from being compromised.

You’ve tried logging in too many times: In some cases, Cash App has closed accounts where users have made too many unsuccessful login attempts. This reason is connected to the previous one as Cash App may interpret this as a third party trying to access your account. For this reason, it’s best to reset your password after a failed login attempt instead of continuing to try to access your profile with incorrect passwords.
