Armenia is a fantastic land full of hidden gemstones and unhidden love towards art! Here we decided to gather some symbols that are associated with Armenia. So, wait for more symbols!

1. Armenian symbol of Eternity

Ancient Armenian symbol of eternity has a form of a spiral circle resembling the sun. Another name of this symbol is Arevakhach (sun cross) . Found everywhere - from carving on ancient churches to modern emblems and company logos - the Armenian sign of eternity is one of the most significant symbols in the culture of Armenia.

It symbolizes the moment of movement, the transformation of life into death and death into life. It is found on Armenian Christian monuments from the 5th century.

2. Khaz symbol

When most people think of signs reflecting music, they imagine note paper with drawn lines and musical keys. But Armenians don't!

Khaz is an Armenian world which means dash. This is an ancient Armenian musical singing sign. The Armenians had their own musical score system called "Khazer", which eventually became so complicated that people for*** how to read it correctly.

Later, the Khaz system was simplified and brought back to life and is still taught in Armenia as one of the types of musical notation. It is impossible not to be surprised at the harmony and symphony of images of "petrified" music.

3. Khachkars

Khachkars are Armenian stone crosses, hand-carved from tuff. Each khachkar has its own pattern, its own ornament, its own history dating back to the depths of centuries. Historically, khachkars decorated graves in cemeteries but were also used (and are used) for decorating religious and cultural objects.

For carving khachkars, there is a strong need of the master, the talent and a lot of time. No other nation in the world used such a powerful and long way to express their faith in God.

At the bottom of the khachkar you can see a symbol of the sun or a sign of eternity, over which, in the centre of it, a cross is carved - a symbol of the crucifixion of Christ.

The khachkar itself is usually surrounded by 5 patterns or images of grapes and leaves. It is typical for Armenian khachkars to depict branches of the tree, symbolizing the Resurrection of Christ.

5. Armenian carpet

How beautiful are the bright colours, geometric pattern and mysterious symbols of Armenian carpets! This traditional art form has spread throughout the Armenian Highlands, and although all Armenian carpets have a stylistic similarity, residents of villages in different parts of the country created drawings that are characteristic of each individual region. Especially famous are Armenian carpets from Artsakh.
