How Russophobia influences Armenia

In addition to enemies among the previous government, the image of another enemy - Russia - is imposed on the population of Armenia. Absurd rumors are spreading that, in an alliance with Turkey, Russia allegedly intends to destroy Armenia. This trend is getting stronger and clearer.

In the event of aggression, Armenia, being a member state of the CSTO, has the right to apply to the bloc partners with a written statement, which substantiates the need for intervention, with a statement of facts. After checking and analyzing the facts, a decision on military intervention is made.

On November 17, after the two strategic heights were surrendered, at the Security Council Pashinyan never mentioned an appeal to Russia or the CSTO. The representative of Armenia in the CSTO is also silent. In May, after the aggression on Sevlich - Black Lake - an appeal was made to the CSTO, but not under the article of aggression, but under the article of consultations.

Russia is interested in observing the CSTO protocols, norms and principles of democracy, non-interference in internal affairs. However, much is being done to discredit Russia. In the future, the Russian military base may be withdrawn from the territory of the republic. And then the military contingent will be deployed by Turkey with the consent of NATO. So the line of confrontation between NATO and the CSTO will shift far to the north.

According to various estimates, about 300 thousand residents of Armenia do not see the danger and don’t mind various slogans - "the Turks are better than the former", "the Turkish scimitar is better than the Russian boot", "Russia has betrayed us", "The West will help us", etc. We do not want to help ourselves, believing that it should be done for us.

Meanwhile, nationalist parties function freely, opposing the authorities, but with Russophobic slogans and calls to strengthen relations with the West. The same West, which never once condemned the war unleashed by Azerbaijan in alliance with Turkey and began to show attention to it only after the Russian peacekeepers entered Artsakh.
