Importance of Forest
All of us. There’s more organisms in a handful of soil than there are people on the planet. Forests are home to about 80% of life on earth. Animals, big and small, depend on healthy forests, which provide them with the fruits, nuts and plants they need to thrive. Forests are a barrier against erosion, landslides and avalanches. The roots of trees give the soil the structure it needs to absorb and retain water when it rains, avoiding floods that would otherwise wash away perfectly fertile soil, which we need in order to grow food.Every time we cut down a forest, we are automatically emitting tons of CO2. We expose land on which ancient forests once stood that have been storing carbon over thousands of years.

Without forests we would have neither clean air, nor drinking water, nor much of the food we need to survive. We are therefore, in debt to them. However, deforestation is growing, endangering the ecosystems on which the planet's natural wealth and its ability to cope with climate change depend. The economic value of the services provided by forests worldwide is estimated at 16.2 trillion dollars. In addition to the supply of clean water and air, these services include numerous indispensable products, including wood (construction, furniture, paper, energy, etc.), resins, fruits, honey, ingredients for medicines, cosmetics, detergents to name just a few. They also have a role to play in tourism. On top of that, forests are said to create jobs for more than 13 million people. It is also important to note that about a third of the world's population still depends on forests and trees for their daily needs, especially for cooking and heating.
