On February 27 members of the European Parliament Michèle Rivasi (Verts/ALE) and Lars Adaktusson (EPP) hosted a public debate featuring prominent international scholars and diplomats including Dr. Alfred de Zayas, Dr. Paul Williams, Dr. Sergey Markedonov. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Artsakh Republic Armine Aleksanyan also took part at the discussion. The speakers addressed developments in international law, the status of the ne***iations, and recommendations for achieving a peaceful resolution in Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) . Read more

Kaspar Karampetian: "Azerbaijan’s request to Interpol for international arrest warrant against me is nonsense"


    

"There are no relevant international legal provisions to prevent any European citizen to visit Artsakh to get acquainted with the situation on the ground. It is their right to do so. The Council of the European Union has clearly stated that EU representatives should have an unconditional access to Artsakh", Karampetian commented. Read more

The Dutch Parliament recognizes the Armenian Genocide


    

The Netherlands recognize 1915 Armenian massacres as Genocide.
     Also, the Dutch government will officially participate in the Armenian Genocide commemorations in Yerevan every 5 years, as of this April.

Armenia cancels Armenia-Turkey protocols


    

EAFJD President Kaspar Karampetian welcomes Armenian government's decision to nullify the Armenian-Turkish protocol ratification process.

Sixteen European Parliamentarians are asking Federica Mogherini why EU officials do not visit Nagorno Karabakh


    

Sixteen MEPs, led by Anders Primdahl Vistisen (ECR), ask why the EU Special Representatives for the South Caucasus and crisis in Georgia and other EU officials have never visited Artsakh, despite having the legal basis to do so. The Parliamentarians believe that it is vital to visit Nagorno Karabakh and take into consideration the perspective of its people in order to reach the resolution of this conflict.

Three decades have passed since the tragic massacres of Sumgait


    

In 1988 the Azerbaijani Authorities committed massacres against Armenian civilians living in Sumgait. Later more pogroms followed in Baku, Maraga and Kirovabad. These atrocities came as a response to the peaceful demonstrations of Armenians in Nagorno Karabakh demanding the Soviet Authorities to recognize their right to self-determination.
    
     Armenians in Belgium commemorated the 30th anniversary of those violent acts at the Armenian Genocide memorial in Brussels.

Marking the 30th anniversary of the Karabakh Movement
    


    

MEPs Frank Engel and Eleni Theocharous congratulated the people of Artsakh on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Karabakh Movement.The European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy (EAFJD) is an umbrella organization with members in 14 European countries and represents a significant part of the Armenian diaspora in Europe.
