Issues aimed at investment environment activation between Yerevan and the United Kingdom have been discussed
     Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan met with the UK’s Trade Envoy to Georgia and Armenia Mark Pritchard. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia Judith Margaret Farnworth participated in the meeting too.
     Greeting the guests and presenting the priorities of Yerevan development the Mayor outlined the main directions in which Yerevan Municipality is ready to expand bilateral cooperation. In this context Mayor Taron Margaryan particularly outlined the possibilities of city transport improvement, road construction, wastes management including construction of new dump and recycling plants, as well as the perspectives of cooperation in the frames of other programs.
     "We are ready to develop effective cooperation and taking into account the established favourable investment environment, we attach importance to foreign investments in Yerevan. Be sure that Yerevan Municipality within its powers is always ready to discuss and assist British companies in the implementation of beneficial investment program", said Taron Margaryan stressing the importance of the role of the UK Ambassador to Armenia and the RA Ambassador to the UK in the issue of cooperation development.
     The UK’s Trade Envoy to Georgia and Armenia Mark Pritchard expressed gratitude for warm welcome and said that Yerevan is a very impressive city and has great investment potential.
     "Yerevan is a developing city and the programs you consider to be priority are really important for a city. Particularly during the recent years Yerevan came up with a number of interesting ideas among which I’d like to outline the creation of "Smart city" concept around which we can find various points for cooperation. In June of the current year we are planning to organize a visit of British businessmen to Yerevan which I believe will be useful for laying the basis for effective cooperation in a number of fields", said Mark Pritchard offering Yerevan Mayor to include in the "Noiseless city" idea in the "Smart city" concept as in the world leading cities practical steps are already being taken in this direction.
     The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UK to Armenia Judith Margaret Farnworth in her turn outlined that significant steps have been taken by Yerevan Municipality recently to increase the touristic attraction of Yerevan which certainly gives an excellent opportunity to attract and develop beneficial cooperation.
     Mayor Taron Margaryan referring to program rates of tourism development said that in comparison with the year of 2016, in 2017 the number of tourists visiting Yerevan was doubled and taking into account that this year Yerevan is celebrating its jubilee an unprecedented flows of tourists are expected so targeted activities are carried out to increase the number of infrastructures. taking the opportunity Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan invited the guests to take part in the events dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan foundation.
     During the meeting the parties also discussed a number of other issues related to business environment improvement, implementation of joint projects and cooperation activation.
